< Back - Plusnet Newsletter Issue 17

Welcome to the latest edition of Plus, the PlusNet newsletter.

It's the start of April and, as expected, we came across a variety of April's Fools pranks on Monday. Google continued their annual tradition, whilst our own Web Team even got in on the act (I don't think anyone fell for it though!).

Aside from the fun and games there's been plenty going on at here at PlusNet for the last few weeks. Read on to find out more.

1. Take control of the PlusNet spam filter

Since our last update in February you'd be forgiven for thinking that it's all been a bit quiet in the battle against spam. Since then we've been working hard to introduce new features to help you see less spam in your inbox.

As of this morning you now have a whole host of much requested new features to fine tune your control. Additional tagging options, the ability to set the aggressiveness of your anti-spam filter and the option to move spam to a nominated mailbox are just a few of the new features.

You'll also be able to set your own personal filters to allow (or block) emails from a certain address.

We really hope that you welcome the new changes and that they help you reduce the amount of spam you receive. Have a look at our help and support guide for a step by step guide of how to make the most of these new features.

For more details about all the new features have a read of this blog on the Community site.

2. Special Offer - Save even more money with PlusNet Home Phone

If you don't currently have your Home Phone with PlusNet then now may be a great time to change. We currently have a special offer available on both our Home Phone packages. So, for just £4.99 (for 3 months, then £9.99) you get line rental and all evening and weekend calls to 01/02/03 numbers with Home Phone Evenings and Weekends.

If you regularly make daytime or international calls then Home Phone Anytime+ offers all 01/02/03 calls, line rental and 300 international minutes per month. Anytime+ costs just £10 for the first 6 months (£15 thereafter).

3. Best Overall Customer Satisfaction

It's been a busy few weeks for the trophy polishers here at PlusNet as we've won no less than 11 awards in March!

At the beginning of the month we were voted 'Best Broadband Provider in the UK' by Broadband Choices. We followed this up with 'Best Consumer ISP' at the annual ISPA awards (the Internet equivalent of the Oscars) and were then voted number one in 9 out of 11 categories in the uSwitch Broadband Customer Satisfaction survey.

We're over the moon with the news and we'd like to thank you all for your continued support over the last 12 months. It's fair to say that we won't be resting on our laurels and will continue the hard work to ensure you continue to receive the best service in the Industry.

Our February customer satisfaction results are in and 67.1% of respondents were either 'extremely satisfied' or 'very satisfied' with the service they are receiving. This is a new high score and we’ll be doing our best to make this even higher next month.

We've teamed up with retail giant GAME to give all new Broadband Your Way Pro customers £40 of GAME vouchers to spend on anything you want in a GAME store.

5. Our Community keeps growing

Regular readers of Plus will know that the majority of the content comes from our Community site. Since the Community site was launched in August last year there has been over 700 blog posts and a 150% growth in overall visitors. The Community forums now contain over half a million posts!

More and more of the content from the Community site is being picked up by recognisable names such as The Guardian and The Telegraph.

You can enjoy all the content on the Community site without registering, however if you want to post comments on blogs or the forums then you'll need to register an account.

Read more about how the Community site is growing day by day.

6. Text message ticket updates

In the last few days we've completed the second phase of our SMS project which allows you to reply to our comments on an open support ticket via text message. Your reply will then be added to the ticket automatically and handled in the same way as a standard reply.

Text messages are easier because you don’t have to be online, which is obviously a problem if you have a fault.

Check out this blog for more details.

7. Other news

If you're interested in our traffic management and capacity plans for 2008 then take a look at this blog detailing our plans for the year.

Also this month we’ve been gathering a team of super athletes together ready for Theo's 10k run in April. The event will help raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity and if you live in the area then we'd love to see you on the day. If you don't fancy a Sunday morning run in Sheffield then have a look at how else you can help the charity.

If you haven't already done so, register your new Community site username and you can join in with the latest debates and conversation on the Community site forums.
