PlusNet honoured in 'Sheffield Business Awards 2004' for new technology

PlusNet (www.plus.net), one of the UK's leading providers of broadband and Internet services, was last night honoured in the Sheffield Business Awards 2004. The popular Internet Service Provider ("ISP") was awarded the prestigious 'Information and Communications Technology Award'. The event was held at Sheffield's Ponds Forge Leisure Complex, and was well-attended by prominent members of the region's business community.

Securing the honour with its Workplace business solution - an innovative Intranet-based CRM system - PlusNet was recognised by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry as demonstrating a leading use of technology that has far-reaching business benefit. Use of this system has contributed to PlusNet's abilities to make significant impact on regional job creation.

The company, based in the Don Valley area of Sheffield, successfully floated on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in July this year. Consistent good performance results have seen a substantial raise in share price from their initial valuation.

PlusNet recently announced an exclusive two-year sponsorship agreement with Sheffield Wednesday FC from June 2005. The association with the League One football club brings together two significant Sheffield businesses which have achieved success at a national level.

PlusNet adds the Information and Communications Award to other trophies received this year. In November, PlusNet won both 'Best Consumer ISP' and the award for 'Customer Service', at the Future UK Internet Awards 2004. These awards were nominated by readers of .net, Broadband & Internet Advisor and NetWorks magazines and PlusNet's own customers.
