Voyager 2110 Wireless Router - Setup Guide
This guide will help you get your BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router set up.You can also find additional information about troubleshooting problems during installation.
Before you start
If you have another broadband modem installed on your computer it must be uninstalled before continuing.
Make sure your broadband account has been activated and that you have your account username and password available.
You will need your wireless adapter installed in order to complete this setup guide. Ensure that you use the wireless connection NOT the Ethernet cable to configure your router. To make a wireless connection to your router you will need the WEP Key located on a coloured sticker, on the bottom of your router.
Your Starter Pack Should Include
- 1 x BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router
- 1 x Ethernet cable (grey)
- 1 x Telephone cable (black)
- 1 x Power Supply
- 2 x Microfilters (boxed)
- 1 x Instruction CD and foldout Quick Start Guide
If you ordered either the Wireless PCI Device - BT Voyager 1040 or the Wireless Laptop Adapter - BT Voyager 1060/5 please consult the accompanying documentation to confirm that you have received all necessary items.
Getting Setup
This section deals with connecting your new hardware.
1 Fit a microfilter in between the wall socket and each device that shares the telephone line. This applies not just to telephones but can also include fax machines, burglar alarms, and any digital satellite equipment. You should have received two boxed microfilters with your router.
2 Plug the Power Supply into the back of your router (socket marked Power). Then plug the other end of the Power Supply into the nearest mains socket.
3 Plug one end of the black telephone cable into the DSL socket on the back of the router and plug the other end into the microfilter (attached to your phone line in step one). The microfilter socket is also marked DSL.
4 Press the Power button on the back of the router to switch it on. The Power light on the front will turn green.
5 Wait until the DSL light stops flashing and goes solid green. Once this happens your wireless router has been successfully set up. Please turn over for instructions on how to connect to your broadband service.

Getting Connected
This section covers what to do in order to connect your new router to your broadband account using your wireless network. In order to complete this section you will need at least one computer that is equipped with a wireless adapter, either built-in or installed as an add-on card.
If you purchased the Wireless PCI Device BT Voyager 1040 adapter card you should ensure that it is correctly installed before proceeding with this section.
If you do not have a wireless capable computer, you can still use the Voyager's Ethernet ports.They will allow you to connect using an Ethernet cable, so long as your computer has a network port. View the section on Wired Connections at the end of this article for more information.
6 Start your Internet browser and type in the address voyager.home or 192.168.1.1
7 The Configuration Manager screen should open (see image below).

8 On the Configuration Manager screen, enter your Broadband Username and Password. Your Username will take the following form:
Broadband Login Username:username@plusdsl.net
Broadband Login Password: same as your normal account username (used to access the portal website etc).
9 Click on Connect
10 Congratulations - your BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router is now connected to your broadband account. You will be able to access the Internet from any computer on your network.
Note that once these details have been set you should not need to enter them again. Simply start your email client or web browser and you will be connected automatically.
Wired Connections
Your BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router is equipped with 4 Ethernet ports. This allows you to use the router with computers that do not have wireless access equipment such as the Wireless PCI Device BT Voyager 1040. This feature also provides you with a networking option for devices such as game consoles that may not support wireless technology.
In order to connect a computer to your router using the "wired" option:
- Find the RJ-45 port on the back of your machine. It may be marked Ethernet
- Connect the grey Ethernet cable supplied to the port and the similar port on the back of the router labelled 1-4
- Reboot your machine and the connection will be made
Troubleshooting
The BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router has been designed to be very easy to setup. However, should you encounter problems during installation, please consider the following points before contacting support.
- Check your cables are correctly placed and that your equipment is powered up.
- Check the status of your router lights: they may tell you where your problem is located.
No Power Light: Check your Power Supply is correctly plugged in. Check your power socket is switched on.
No Wireless Light: Indicates that the router is not broadcasting a signal and may indicate a faulty router.
No DSL Light: ADSL service has not been detected. Check your DSL cable has been attached properly. Make sure you have fitted microfilters in between your broadband enabled telephone line and all devices that are attached to it. This might include telephones, fax machines or set-top boxes.
Flashing DSL Light: When your router is connected to your broadband service, the DSL light will flash briefly. This indicates that the DSL signal has been detected but is out of sync. If the light does not stop flashing try switching off your router for 30 seconds, this may solve the problem. If you are replacing an existing Broadband DSL modem or router on your Broadband line, leave the Voyager 2110 connected to the line and switched-on overnight. After a while, the DSL light should turn permanently solid green.
