Summary: Information on the closure of our Wireless Broadband service.
As of the 22nd October 2008 our Wireless Broadband service has closed. Please be aware that this FAQ only refers to the service supplied through BT Openzone hotspots. Our Home and Business Broadband services are not affected, so dont confuse this with your home or office wireless router. Here we'll explain our decision and answer any questions you might have.
If you have a question that's not covered here, use the Help Assistant to ask our support team. 1. Why has the service closed? When we launched our Wireless Broadband service, the demand for Internet connectivity away from the home or office was on the rise. Since then, mobile phone technology has advanced to the point where 3G mobile broadband is starting to take over the market, plus it's not too difficult to find a public house or cafe offering free wireless access. Having considered our operational costs, the small number of customers using the service and the growth of cheaper alternatives, we decided that it was time to retire our Wireless Broadband service. 2. I had unused credit on my account, will I get a refund?Yes, we'll issue a pro-rata refund (based on the number of days remaining in the billing month) to anyone who has unused credit after the service has closed. 3. Will you offer Wireless Broadband in the future? There are no plans at the moment but we won't rule it out. If you need Wireless Broadband access then you might want to try BT Openzone or The Cloud.
