Please note that non-BT lines cannot connect using the 0808 numbers.
If you wish to connect from abroad, PlusNet customers should use the Local-rate 'roaming' numbers listed. But remember, drop the 0 and add the international dialing code +(44) to the beginning of the number before attempting to connect.
These numbers have been found to work in most of Europe and the USA.
Residential and business customers who find themselves away from their regular connection point/s can also connect with the 'roaming' access numbers, as can customers experiencing temporary connection difficulties.
Manual dial-up connection guides
Use our step-by-step guides to manually setup a dial-up connection.
Choose your relevant operating system:
Username
To check which username you should use select Connection Settings from the left hand menu in the Member Centre and click Connection Details. Your modem/router will connect to us with this information.
0845 Dial-up numbers
All dial-up numbers that begin with 0845 are chargeable at local-rate by your telephone service provider. Connect and Anytime customers will also be charged for using this service.
CLI and CLIP settings for all users (including ISDN and ex-directory)
Anytime and Connect account customers can connect from up to 5 designated BT telephone numbers.
Simply add any additional Caller Line Identification numbers (telephone numbers) to the My CLI Numbers page which is found in the Connection Settings section of the Member Centre.
Ex-directory and 'number withheld' service enabled users need to add the prefix '1470' in front of the CLI.
ISDN users with an Anytime or Connect account require CLIP (Called Line Identification Protocol) to be enabled on their line to successfully connect to us. Enabling this protocol will ensure that BT knows where to route the call.
CLIP can be enabled by calling BT on 150 (152 for users with a BT business line).
Connecting a portable device through a mobile phone
With a data-enabled mobile phone and suitable hardware, such as a laptop, you can connect to the Internet anywhere your mobile can find a signal.
A national-rate access number is available to ALL our customers: 0870 7063000
This service is best suited to retrieving small emails and general browsing due to the relatively slow speed of mobilephone data transfer.
Please be aware that calls to this number are charged at BT's national rate and will vary according to your mobile network provider's tariff. Also note that mobile calls are not included in the unmetered provision of Anytime, Connect or ADSL accounts.
Please consult your mobile PC and telephone manuals for model-specific details.
