1. What is Fax-2-Email?

Fax-2-Email allows an email address of your choice to receive faxes, meaning that you don't need a fax machine. Instead, when someone faxes your number you'll receive the fax as an email attachment.

2. How do I activate Fax-2-Email?

If Fax-2-Email is available on your account (check your product's features), you can activate it like this:

• Go to Email Settings in the Member Centre and click on Fax-2-Email
• Enter the email address that you want faxes to be sent to
• Click Activate to get your Fax-2-Email number
• Then write down your fax number and forward it to your contacts

The service will be up and running in the next 2-4 hours.

3. Can I change the email address that Fax-2-Email uses?

Yes, just follow the steps outlined in question 2.

4. What type of fax number will I be given?

You'll be allocated an 0870 number after you've activated Fax-2-Email.

5. How much does it cost to send faxes to my Fax-2-Email number?

0870 numbers are national rate, so faxes should be charged at BT's standard national rate - this will depend on the phone provider that the sender uses.

6. Can I send faxes using Fax-2-Email?

No. Fax-2 Email can only be used to receive faxes.

7. Why has my Fax-2-Email service been removed?

If you don't use your Fax-2-Email service for more than 3 months then your number will be removed. To continue using the service you'll need to follow the instructions shown in question 1.

8. If I activate Fax-2-Email again will I get the same fax number?

No. If you've reactivated the service you will be given a new number.

9. What format will I receive faxes in?

When someone sends a fax to your Fax-2-Email number, it'll be attached to an email as a .tiff file. You'll be able to view it with an image software that supports tiff files..

10. Can Fax-2-Email be used from outside the UK?

It depends on the phone provider that the sender uses. If they support calls to UK 0870 numbers, then the service will work. If not then it won't.

11. Can I forward a fax I've received?

Yes. After receiving a Fax-2-Email message you can treat it like any other email with an attachment.
