Summary: Guide to setting up and using extra mailboxes. You'll also find information about aliases, mailing lists and redirects here.
How to create a new email addressBefore following the steps below, you should decide what you want your new email address to be. It will look something like this: something@username.plus.com (or something@yourdomain.co.uk if you host a domain on your account) The bit you need to choose is before the @ sign.
The options you have are:
What you choose here will determine how you can use your email address later on. [Top]Deliver to one of my existing mailboxesChoosing this will create an Alias to an existing mailbox. Any mail sent to your new address will be passed to an existing email address on your Plusnet account. After clicking Next, you'll need to choose the address you want the mail to arrive at from a dropdown list. Note that only the part before the @ sign is shown here. Make your choice and click Next. You'll see confirmation of the new address on screen and we'll send you an email too. From here on, your new address will appear on both the Summary and the Alias tab. Your alias will be fully functional within 30 minutes. [Top]Deliver to a new mailbox with its own login and passwordThis option will create an entirely new Mailbox on your email account. Any mail sent to your new email address will be stored in the mailbox. After clicking Next, you'll need to choose a password for your new mailbox. Make note of this as you'll need it later on. Press Next when you've made your choice. You'll see confirmation of your new address and we'll send you an email too. From here on, your new address will appear on both the Summary and the Mailbox tab. To receive mail sent to your new mailbox you'll need to set up your email program to do so. Follow the instructions here and make sure you use your mailbox username and password. Your mailbox will be fully functional within 30 minutes. [Top]Deliver to another email addressChoosing this will create a Redirect on your account. Any mail sent to your new address will be directed to another email address of your choosing. You can use any address you like, even one with another provider. You can use an address on your Plusnet account but we'd recommend using an Alias to do that rather than a Redirect. After clicking Next, you'll need to enter the full email address that you want to direct your email to. Press Next when you've made your choice. You'll see confirmation of the new address on screen and we'll send you an email too. From here on, your new address will appear on both the Summary and the Redirect tab. Your redirect will be fully functional within 30 minutes. [Top]2. Editing & Deleting extra email addressesIf you want to edit or remove one of your extra email addresses, follow these instructions:
You should now see your email address with links to edit or delete on the right. Click on the link you need to continue. If you're editing, make your changes and click Save Changes. If you're deleting, you'll see a confirmation screen, if you're sure you want to delete the address, click Yes. Deleting a Mailbox will also delete any Alias that's pointing to it.
