    • Device Security - gives you real-time protection for your Windows™ PC, Mac®, iOS, Android™ and tablet devices from ransomware, viruses, spyware, malware and other online threats.
    • Internet Security - helps safeguard your device and personal data from malicious sites with their ransomware, trojans and other online threats
    • Smart Firewall for PC, Firewall for Mac - monitors and blocks hostile attempts to access your devices while helping to keep your sensitive information safe

    • Protection Report Card - gives you a 30-day summary of all the security activities run on your devices

Plusnet Protect comes as standard with most of our packages. For Unlimited Fibre and Full Fibre 36 packages see our price guide for more details. Simply add it to your package by signing in to your account.

To check how much it is for older broadband products, like Plusnet Value and Broadband Your Way see our broadband product archive.

Just go to Add-Ons and choose Plusnet Protect from the list and follow the one screen instructions.

Before you install Plusnet Protect, it's a good idea to uninstall any security software you've got already. Running more than one security program on your device can cause the software to get into a muddle and not work properly. If you're unable to do this, Plusnet Protect should be able to uninstall the software you've got at the moment, though we can't guarantee it'll work for everyone. See the link on how to install Plusnet Protect on your device.

If you don't want to use Plusnet Protect anymore, you can remove it from your account by going to the Add-Ons section of your account. To remove the software you'll need to uninstall it from all your devices. You will also need to cancel your contract with Norton, more information can be found on the NortonLifeLock Cancellation and Refund Policy.

You can get it back again at any time by going to the Add-Ons section and clicking the Add button next to Plusnet Protect.

For modern devices it takes about 30 minutes to download and install. However this can vary depending on your device’s spec.

If you've just added Plusnet Protect to your account, you'll be able to download it from My Account. If you're still having trouble installing Plusnet Protect, please get in touch with us.

    1. Open your Norton device security product.
    2. If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
    3. In the Norton product main window, double-click Security, and then click Scans.
    4. In the Scans window, next to Scans and Tasks, select one of the following:
      • Quick Scan > Go
      • Full System Scan > Go
      • Custom Scan > Go, then click Run next to Drive Scan, Folder Scan, or File Scan to go to the files you want to scan.
    5. In the Results Summary window, click Finish.

If there’s files that need attention, you can see the risks in the Threats Detected window.

In the Norton product main window the Security, Internet Security, and Performance tiles are colour-coded:

    1. Green shows you have protection.
    2. Orange shows your device needs attention.
    3. Red shows your device is at risk.

Norton automatically fixes most issues that could affect your protection or system performance and they appear as Protected (green) in the main window. Norton shows issues that need action from you as At Risk or Attention.

When the status changes to Attention or At Risk:

    1. Open your Norton device security product.
    2. Find the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
    3. In the Norton product main window, click the red (At Risk) or orange (Attention) tiles.
    4. Click Fix Now and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you still have issues, select Help > Get Support to run the diagnostic tool.

When Plusnet Protect detects an infected file it either quarantines it and notifies you or prompts you to take action. You can also review recent Norton device security scan results or other protection updates on your device. See https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v12687512 to find out how to review recent scan results.

Firewall Reset returns the Smart Firewall to its default state and removes custom firewall rules or trust control settings that you created. If you think the firewall is causing connectivity issues, reset the firewall to its default state.

Reset firewall rules to the default state

    1. Open your Norton device security product.
    2. Find the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
    3. In the Norton product main window, click Settings.
    4. In the Settings window, click Firewall.
    5. On the General Settings tab, in the Firewall Reset row, click Reset to remove custom traffic rules, program rules, or other settings that you added.

The firewall is disabled for the few seconds it needs to reset.

Plusnet Protect can also boost your device's speed with its performance management and optimization tools that speed up everyday tasks.

See https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v120813372 for tips on how to improve your device's performance.

Plusnet Protect updates its virus definitions automatically. If you need to run a LiveUpdate manually, follow these instructions.

      • Find the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
    2. In the Norton product main window, double-click Security, and then click LiveUpdate.

    5. Exit all programs and restart your device.
